...In The Neighborhood
Isolated, insulated, engaged only with others in the church so that if we suddenly disappeared, no one in the neighborhood would even notice.
We so want to avoid that at Grace.
We long to see God's grace spreading to more and more people causing the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God. To that end, we seek to so love and serve people in our community that if Grace would disappear, our neighbors, even those who disagree with our teaching, would miss us.
We are blessed to be located in an area that provides many open doors for building relationships and helping out. We are currently active in the Crescent Hill Community Council, the Clifton Community Council, the United Crescent Hill Ministry, and the Frankfort Avenue Business Association. We also have folks participating in a book club and a community garden as a way of developing friendships with those who don't yet follow Christ. We continue to seek additional ways to serve the people and businesses of our neighborhood.
We encourage every member to be always asking God to open doors for the gospel, to cause us to see those doors, and give us boldness to go through them. At work, in the neighborhood, in the family, and in whatever occasions the Lord provides, our members are building relationships and sowing gospel seeds in the hearts and minds of those not yet counting on Christ as their only hope. How we long for God to grant the increase. We pray for this regularly.
We are excited about what the Lord is doing as we seek to live out our "missional" value. Missional, meaning asking ourselves what would we be praying for and doing if we were missionaries to this community and then praying for and doing those things.
