About Franklin Street

At Franklin Street Church,

to help people grow in God’s grace, we
worship,
connect,
and serve.

We love being part of what Jesus is doing in building His church.  We love seeing the grace which is spreading to more and more people cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God.

Jesus, the Son of God, the Messiah, is the Shepherd, Champion, Savior, Mediator, Friend, Healer, Teacher, Counselor, Prophet, and King.  His kingdom will never end.  When it is completed, those who are part of it will flourish in perfect harmony with God and each other.  Because of His grace, in the power of the Holy Spirit, God draws people into his kingdom through the wonderful exchange; Jesus takes their sin and guilt and gives them his righteousness.  Because of who He is, God’s only begotten Son, and because He lived a sinless life; Jesus offered an infinitely valuable and perfectly pure sacrifice in dying on the cross.  Instead of constantly working to prove we are good people in the eyes of God, others, and ourselves; we seek to honor the worth of Jesus’ sacrifice by joyfully receiving the salvation He offers and resting in His work as that which makes us good in the eyes of God, others, and ourselves.

As those who draw close to God on the basis of His grace and the finished work of Jesus Christ, we at Franklin Street are being changed from the inside out by the Holy Spirit.  As we grow in God’s grace through worshiping, connecting, and serving, we seek to relax into and live into the following core identities we have in Christ.

Core Identities

We are created beings.

As such we seek to honor the Creator and give thanks.  We have no life in ourselves and rely upon and delight in the Creator who is the fountain of living water.  We seek to grasp and respond to His goodness with childlike, joyful trust and obedience and serve Him and others rather than attempting to manipulate Him and others.  We are not God.  We are not in control.

As created beings, we receive as gifts from God, life, being, and all things.  Thus thankfulness is part of who we are (Rom. 1:21).

We are worshipers.

As created beings, we all worship something.  We seek to continue to grow out of self-centered, false-god worship and grow into God-centered, delighters in God.

We are ambassadors for Christ.

As such we seek to represent His thinking, His passions, and His way of life.  As ambassadors, we have a message from Him that others must hear.  Thus we seek to show up, connect with, serve, and speak, teach, and explain the gospel to the world around us.

We are members of Christ’s body.

As such we are family, community.  We are our brother’s keeper.  Thus we show up, connect with, and serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are the church which the gates of hell will not overcome (Mt. 16:18).  We are the church through which God makes known His manifold wisdom to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places (Eph. 3:10).
